SUPPORT

  • We conduct home visits in an effort to reintegrate beneficiaries with family members, who may have the means to support them, but may have lost contact/awareness of their circumstances.
  • We conduct  monthly prison visits to provide psychosocial support, legal case management, rehabilitation update checks, and provide material items such as hygiene products.
  • We provide assistance to beneficiaries who may not posses legal documentation(birth certificates, identification etc).
  • We provide legal support, where possible, for young offenders.

COUNSELLING

Counselling  based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy model, addressing                beneficiary’s mental and emotional health. Those with serious mental health issues are referred to the National Psychiatric Centre. We follow the module of a Behavioral Self-Control Training to reduce the consumption of legal and illegal drugs. This program is applicable to people who don’t feel comfortable with their drug use anymore and would like to make changes. The program’s objectives are:
  1. Support drug users to gain self control over their lives again .
  2. Raise awareness of how someone is handling the drugs (in what situations).
  3. Strenghten motives of behavioral change.
  4. To establish a life the drug user feels comfortable with, whether it’s a reduction or abstinence

EMPOWERMENT

  • Emotionally stable beneficiaries who do not suffer from substance abuse issues, are encouraged to engage in education tracts.
  •  Life skills sessions and community sensitizations, provide useful skills and knowledge. We engage with third party facilitators to help with topics we may not be able to provide in-depth sessions on.
  • We carry out weekly outreach visits in communities and the city centres to help us identify or inform us of potential beneficiaries at risk.
Phumelela Project was founded with the support of our principal donor, the Rotary Club of Dudelange, Luxembourg. To find out more about Rotary International and how you can get involved, please click: here.
