One of the biggest problems in Swaziland is youth unemployment, which often leads to substance abuse, crime and increases the likelihood of gender-based violence. At the same time, there is demand for a skilled and talented workforce across all sectors.
Phumelela Project was set up in 2016 to empower the youth of Swaziland through knowledge, compassion and opportunity and is Swaziland's only dedicated NGO for young adults at risk. Our individually tailored programmes provide 18 - 25 year olds with counselling, education and training, to equip them with the tools needed to find stability in their lives, whilst empowering them to be confident, independent and valued members of society.
Why Phumelela? Phumelela is a SiSwati word meaning "Striving to Succeed".
Phumelela Project was founded with the support of our principal donor, the Rotary Club of Dudelange, Luxembourg. To find out more about Rotary International and how you can get involved, please click: here.
